Destination: Sydney, Australia
A girl we were traveling with recommended us of a place to stay at, a bit far out from the main touristic areas of Sydney, not a bad location though, and very very cheap. We decided to stay for a week.
The hosts were an old couple, the living room was very welcoming, some travel photos on the walls, a guestbook, and a pin map. The lady wasn’t at home most of the day and we had a few weird kinda awkward conversations with the guy but nothing too disturbing. On our last day there he insisted to have dinner with us since we were about to leave early morning the following day and we happily agreed.
Over a 2 hours dinner, he went on and on and on about the world going to end in 2018 and only those who stayed in his house (because of its spiritual location and family history we couldn’t follow) are the chosen ones to survive. He grabbed some pins and the guestbook and asked for our exact home address so he would pray for us.
We managed to avoid his request the first few times but he seemed upset and made us feel really uncomfortable about it.
We went out that night without planning until his wife returned. got up early morning the next day, wrote a new address in the guestbook, moved the pin and let extra early. Whoever it is that lives in that random address we gave our host- hope 2018 wasn’t too weird for you! The world still exists, October 2018.
